Driving with Purpose: Why We Donated a $5,000 Car Wrap to Angel Families’ Dunga Derby Entry

by | Jul 25, 2025 | Charity

At JR Marketing Group, we believe marketing should move more than just metrics, it should move people.

That’s why when the opportunity came up to support Angel Families and their entry into the 2025 Dunga Derby, there was no hesitation. We proudly donated a fully custom pink vehicle wrap for their team’s Holden Crewman – a gift valued at over $5,000, but absolutely priceless in its meaning.

The vehicle wrap pays tribute to Jayden Thomas, the son of Angel Families founder Alicia Thomas, who tragically passed away in 2021 at just 16 years old. It’s more than just a car, it’s a symbol of love, remembrance, and community strength.

We were honoured to be there for the big reveal alongside Alicia and Damien Matheson from Aura Residential, who generously donated the Dunga vehicle itself. It was a proud moment, not just for Alicia, but for everyone who has supported Angel Families on their journey.

Who Are Angel Families?

Angel Families was founded in response to an unthinkable tragedy. After losing her son, Alicia found herself navigating a world that felt isolating, confusing, and painfully quiet. In the face of that grief, she created something powerful, a community for bereaved parents and families who have experienced the loss of a child or sibling aged 21 and under. What started locally here on the Fraser Coast has now grown to a national online support group offering:

  • Peer support sessions
  • Grief resources and lending libraries
  • Counselling access
  • Grief and education seminars
  • Pet and craft-based healing activities
  • And most importantly, a safe space for families to share, remember, and begin to heal.

Why It Matters to Us

We’re proud Fraser Coast locals. And we know that community isn’t just about business, it’s about connection.

Mental health and grief support are causes close to our hearts. Our Director, Josh Rimmington, has personally fundraised for local homelessness and mental health initiatives. When we heard about Alicia’s story and the incredible work Angel Families is doing, we knew we wanted to help in a way that reflected what we do best, storytelling through design.
This custom car wrap tells a story. It’s a rolling tribute. A symbol of hope. And a conversation starter that will travel the roads of both the Fraser Coast and Sunshine Coast Dunga Derby in 2025, raising awareness and honouring those who are no longer with us.

Wrapping Up (Literally and Figuratively)

To Alicia, Damien, and the Angel Families community, thank you for allowing us to be part of something so meaningful. Your strength, love, and purpose are truly inspiring. At JR Marketing Group, we’re committed to supporting the people, organisations, and stories that make our region stronger.

This wasn’t just a car wrap, it was a chance to stand alongside a local hero and help amplify a message that matters. We can’t wait to see the Angel Families Dunga Team hit the road in 2025!
